Es posible recorrer virtualmente quince rutas en el entorno del Parque Nacional de la Sierra de Guadarrama sin moverte del sofá.
Aunque vamos a tener por delante una larga temporada de estancia obligatoria en casa, mucho de nosotros no queremos renunciar a los paseos por los fantásticos espacios naturales que nos rodean. Para ello sólo necesitamos acomodarnos en el sofá y acceder a Google Maps, donde encontraremos digitalizadas quince rutas en el entorno del Parque Nacional de la Sierra de Guadarrama.
Podremos realizar un paseo virtual hasta la laguna grande de Peñalara, disfrutar de las vistas del mirador de las Canchas en el Valle de La Barranca o recrearnos con el paisaje del Valle de La Fuenfría. Y así hasta quince rutas en total, repartidas en once municipios de la Sierra de Guadarrama.
El proyecto de digitalización de rutas en la Sierra de Guadarrama ha sido llevado a cabo por la empresa Navalmedio Naturaleza en colaboración con Google.”Durante tres meses –apunta Isabel Pérez directora logística del proyecto- se realizó el trabajo de campo, durante el cual se mapearon 15 rutas, de 11 municipios madrileños, digitalizando un total de 137 kilómetros de pistas forestales, caminos y sendas”.
Las rutas mapeadas, y que cualquiera puede ya recorrer virtualmente son:
o Un paseo por las atarjeas de Moralzarzal
o Subida al Cerro del Cañal de Alpedrete
o Paseo por el monte mediterráneo de Hoyo de Manzanares
o Descubriendo la dehesa ganadera de Los Molinos
o De Miraflores de la Sierra a Soto del Real por el Hueco de San Blas
o El Valle de La Barranca de Navacerrada
o De Soto del Real a Miraflores de la Sierra por la ermita de Nuestra Señora del
Rosario.
o La senda Victory en Cercedilla
o Visita a los álamos blancos de Guadarrama
o Ruta circular de El Boalo-Cerceda-Mataelpino
o Subida a los Rasos de Mataelpino
o Un paseo por las trincheras de La Jarosa en Guadarrama
o Entre canteras y dehesas de Alpedrete
o Subida al Puerto de La Fuenfría en Cercedilla
o Visita al circo glaciar de Peñalara
Para las tareas de mapeo se ha utilizado una herramienta denominada Trekker,
desarrollado por Google para acceder de forma respetuosa a aquellos espacios naturales donde un vehículo no puede transitar. “Consiste en un equipo –comenta Jose Antonio Peñaranda, director técnico del proyecto- cuyo principal elemento es una cabeza dotada de 15 lentes, cada una apuntando en un dirección diferente, que nos permite crear una vista panorámica de 360 grados. A medida que el operador camina, el Trekker va registrando una foto cada 2,5 segundos. Los diferentes instrumentos van instalados en una mochila, con peso aproximado de 19 kilos, y un tamaño de cerca de 1,2 metros de alto. Cuando el Trekker va colocado a la espalda del operador, su equipo fotográfico se extiende unos 60 centímetros por encima de sus hombros. La mochila también alberga dos baterías, con una autonomía de uso de entre 6 y 8 horas,dos discos duros SSD y la unidad de mando”.
Tras los tres meses de labor de campo las imágenes han pasado por otros cuatro
meses de trabajo de ordenador hasta conseguir un resultado final que permite a
cualquier internauta recorrer estos espacios sin salir de casa. Un espacio natural tan
madrileño como es la Sierra de Guadarrama, parte de cuyo territorio se incluye dentro
del parque nacional del mismo nombre, se abre a los ojos del mundo gracias a este
proyecto pionero en la Comunidad de Madrid.
De esta forma, la Sierra de Guadarrama ha entrado a formar parte del grupo de
espacios naturales seleccionados por Google para mostrar al mundo. Un proyecto que
arrancó en 2012 con el Gran Cañón del Colorado, las Islas Galápagos, la Pirámide del
Sol en Teotihuacan, Venecia o la Alhambra de Granada.
